Very realistic. Your painting shows movement making it seem that the dog is real ready to jump out of the picture.

I really AM going going gone crazy! Mitzy's a trompe d'oiel! Right? And what a burst through the silver-golden arches! (will you forgive me for that one? Just giving the facts, calling them as I see them.) Anyway, Heather, the old saw is true, that you keep out-doing yourself (while I keep undoing my self!). With a beautiful family member like Mitzy, who needs a man's best friend? You know, don't you, that your gallery should have only one of these works on a page. When I look at a whole page I need to grab and hold on to something really grounded. Thank you for them.

Artist's Description

It was a moment in the park when Mitzy came running to me. The image was so strong in my mind I had to share with the world. Mitzy has been a inspiration to my family, helper and friend for the last 14 years. I hope she will be able to run freely for many more.
The technique involved a photo transfer in wax, oil pastel pigments and beeswax.

About Heather Hennick

Heather Hennick

Artist Statements Encaustic and Mixed Mediums I use purified Beeswax with dried pigment and damar crystals (tree resin) for hardening. The process may include techniques such as ironing, carving, embedding materials, transfer techniques, stamping, drawing and painting. I believe encaustic is a forgiving medium that includes a multitude of modalities and creative opportunities for expression. Encaustic is a natural preservative that allows me...
