Artist's Description
I have embedded 7 Jerusalem stones into the base of the painting. I believe the stones to be of healing intention. I have covered the stones with beeswax tinted in the deep purple which is the color of spirituality. The bird represents freedom. The painting concept is to attain freedom from the earthly distractions and to be able to soar in this life as a free, intuitive and goal achieving spirit. To resonate with the image will begin an inner transformation with the concept.

Artist Statements Encaustic and Mixed Mediums I use purified Beeswax with dried pigment and damar crystals (tree resin) for hardening. I heat the wax to a molten point where I can apply the wax as liquid to a rigid surface such as masonite or wood, coated card stock or absorbant paper. Each layer is fused to the next with a heat source, thus a commitment to the composition evolves. I work spontaneously as I create the composition. The process may include techniques such as ironing, carving, embedding materials, transfer techniques, stamping, drawing and painting. hi Heather, you have a big new fan... this is fun stuff... how in the WORLD would one ship a work of art like this... this was my favorite, but i love them all... i have an exhibition of seven new works that could not get hotter than 165 degreesf... so they probably could not be shipped in any traditional manner... but they are great fun and the show is HOT... pun intended... got an eye on you... gregory
