Artist's Description
This is the 'Dragonfly Garden' where Trust can be found. There is no fear or intimidation here, only self esteem, confidence and personal respect. There is ease of digestion in this place. About Heather Hennick
Artist Statements Encaustic and Mixed Mediums I use purified Beeswax with dried pigment and damar crystals (tree resin) for hardening. I heat the wax to a molten point where I can apply the wax as liquid to a rigid surface such as masonite or wood, coated card stock or absorbant paper. Each layer is fused to the next with a heat source, thus a commitment to the composition evolves. I work spontaneously as I create the composition. The process may include techniques such as ironing, carving, embedding materials, transfer techniques, stamping, drawing and painting. Love this grand new collection of sunnier, warmer, springlike colors. The vertical format allows the dragonflies just enough space to happily flitter about in this garden of healing and repose. Colour in itself, has properties of energy that really do influence mood, can uplift, and help change environments. Remember what Lauren Harris and The Group Of Seven did for the Canadian Landscape. Your work is beginning to remind me of Varley, and what he did with his garden series. Enjoy August, I think today in Montreal we are experiencing the first real day of summer. So be happy, your work is reflecting a joyful countenance

Dear Cher: thank you :) Dear Bruce: The bricks map a gate way . There is a further place, there always is. Life to me is all about concepts and multi-layers. I always see the wall of Jerusalem in my paintings. If you look through the collections, you will frequently see the walls. Eventually , when you die, there will be no more walls. So , here you are alive.. and there are walls, but there are always gateways..so you can get through.......hope this makes sense, so good to 'HEAR" you again!!!!

You don't have to die to get there? You know, Heather, this little collection of colors and their upward curves is really enticing. Beautiful. I do not get the sort of horizontal brick wall mid-top, however. I confess yet more to my density. Peace, etc., Bruce
